Information for inpatients

Admission procedure

  • If you have a scheduled day of admission with no specified time, please go to section No.11 Patient Supoort Center on 1F (inpatient reception) at the scheduled time on the day of admission for the admission procedure.
  • If you do not have a date scheduled for admission, you will be contacted by the hospital as soon as the date of admission is decided. Please be advised that you may be contacted the day before the day of admission.
  • If you are unable to go to the hospital on the scheduled date and time due to inconvenience, or if you wish to cancel the hospitalization, please notify the applicable outpatient department immediately.
Admission on holidays
  • Please go to the Security and Surveillance locatied on the B1F by 14:00. The staff will inform you of your ward building.
  • Your admission procedure will be handled at your ward building on the next working day.


  • Precautions before your admission
  • If you have any of the following symptoms between the day before and the day of admission:fever of 37.5C or higher, sore throat, cough, or diarrhea, please contact the Patient Flow Management Office before coming to the hospital.
  • If any of your family members has contagious infectious disease such as influenza or gastroenteritis ( norovirus, etc) , please try to avoid contact with them and make sure wear a mask and wash your hands. If you have had any contact, please make sure to inform our hospital staff at the time of admission.
  • Refrain yourself from smoking if you are scheduled to undergo a surgery.
  • Nail decorations such as manicure or gel nails must be removed before admission as they may interfere with your surgery.
    Appointment of joint guarantor
    • We ask the patients being admitted to this hospital to appoint a joint guarantor (an adult with a separate income from the patient). Please sign and affix the seal then submit the admission application.
    • If you have a credit card, this may be used in place of a joint guarantor by filling in the required items on the back of the admission application.

    • *Items 1 to 7 are available for purchase in the in-hospital convenience store (Lawson on 1F).
    • *Please avoid bringing valuables and a large amount of cash. We are not able to keep these safely for you.
      *Please use the safety box in the room and manage the valuables under your own responsibility.The hospital will not be held liable for theft or misplacement of any personal items.

    Details of the meals
    • The meals are prepared according to the conditions of the patients. Menu selections may be available.
    • If meals are not provided due to treatment and examination, they may be provided after treatment and examination.
    • The price of the meals is 460 yen per meal. You will be required to pay the fee for meals even if you choose not to eat the meals.
    Use of mobile phones
    • Telephone calls must be made or received in the permitted areas.
    • Please turn off the power if there is a medical device nearby.
    • Be sure to turn the power off in the following locations:
      • Surgery room
      • Intensive care room (ICU,HCU,NICU,GCU)
      • Emergency center
      • Hemodialysis room
      • Delivery room, labor room, and neonate room
      • Examination rooms and treatment rooms
      • Outpatient consultation rooms and interim waiting room

    Considerations during hospitalization

    Use of named wristbands
    • Please wear the named wristbands during hospitalization for safety control purposes.

    • Be sure to bring your patient card to the examinations.
    Change of hospital rooms and beds
    • Patients may be transferred to another rooms or beds according to their conditions or in case of emergency  (Patients are not allowed to specify bed locations).
    Prohibition of nuisance
    • Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire premises. Please avoid smoking during hospitalization (you are also prohibited from bringing tobacco into the hospital).
    • Bringing in dangerous goods or drinking alcohol, including non-alcoholic beer, is strictly prohibited.
    • You may be asked to leave the hospital if you are found to be involved in behaviors that cause harm to staff members, harassment, or represent a nuisance to others.
    Handling of medical devices
    • Medical devices loaned to you must be not be handled roughly or allowed to come in contact with water. You may be asked to compensate for the cost of the medical devices loaned by the hospital that have been misplaced or damaged.
    • Do not take the medical devices off hospital premises without permission from the hospital.
    Outing and overnight stay
    • Permission from the doctor is required in order to off hospital premises and to stay out of the hospital overnight. Be sure to submit a prior application if you wish to do so.
    Refusal of gifts
    • We do not accept gifts for the doctors and staff members during hospitalization and at admission.
    Use of car parks
    • Please be advised that there is no discount on the parking fee during hospitalization.

    Hospitalization expenses

    Method of calculating hospitalization expense
    • Hospitalization expense is calculated by the number of days rather than the number of nights (for example, when a patient is hospitalized for one night and two days, the hospitalization expense is two days)
    • The out-of-pocket cost varies depending on whether you have your health insurance certificate available or not. If there are any changes to the insurance certificate, please present this to section No.11 Patient Support Center on 1F (inpatient accounts).
    • The expenses for medical care not covered by the Health Insurance Act, such as traffic accidents, delivery assistance fee, and document fee, will be calculated by the method specified in the Ordinance of Yokohama City.
    • Full expenses will be charged for expenses not covered by insurance.
    • A separate room usage fee will be charged if you have used the private room.

    • Payment at the emergency outpatient reception on 1F is only available if you have an invoice.
    • If you have any inquiries on the payment of the hospitalization expense, such as having difficulty paying the expense as a single payment or making payment within the specified period, please notify Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) as soon as possible.
    Payment via financial institutions and convenience stores
    • Payment can be made via financial institutions and convenience stores.
    • Please ask at Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) if you wish to use this payment method.
    Payment by credit card
    • Payment by credit card is available.
    • Payment is made as a single payment if not specified otherwise. Revolving payments and installments may be unavailable depending on the card you are using.
    • The preset usage limit cannot be exceeded (please contact the credit card company directly for usage limits).
    • The following credit card are available for use:
      JCB, VISA, and Master Card are available for use.
    Payment at the time of discharge
    • You will be notified of the estimated amount in the afternoon on the day before the day of discharge. This is applicable to patients who have the discharge scheduled by the morning of the day before. If the discharge was decided after this time, please check at Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) at the time of discharge.
    • The invoice will be prepared by the time of admission at 10:00. If the account cannot be prepared immediately because of a sudden discharge or the details of the medical care being provided on the day, we will contact you by phone at a later date, at which time you will be able to make the payment.
    • Please pay the hospitalization expense at Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts). Be sure to go to Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) even if the account is being prepared for a later date as we will need to confirm the payment methods.
    • If you are being discharged on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, or outside hospital hours, you will be notified of the payment method by phone at a later date (unless a prior account is available).
    Payment for discharge on holidays
    • If the discharge is scheduled on a holiday (Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays), you will be notified of the estimated amount beforehand. Please make the payment at Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) on weekdays before discharge.
    • Please be advised that in cases where the entire expense up to discharge cannot be reflected in a prior account, you will be charged for the difference at a later date.
    Payment during hospitalization
    • Hospitalization expenses will be invoiced each month. If you are hospitalized over multiple months, the invoice for the end of the month will be delivered to the hospital room from the 10th day of the following month.
    • Please make the payment at Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) within seven days of delivering the invoice.

    Discharge procedure

    • The time of discharge is 10:00 a.m. We ask for your cooperation on this matter to ensure the hospital room for patients awaiting admission and for emergency admissions.
    • Please receive an explanation from the nurse in charge regarding post-discharge consideration and the date of the next outpatient visit and pay the hospitalization expense at Reception No.6 on 1F (inpatient accounts) before the discharge.

    Medical certificates and other certificates

    Application methods
    • If you need certificates for submission to insurance companies or other reasons, please submit it to the reception at No.2 or 3 the Document reception.
    • A separate document fee is required for the issue of medical certificates and other certificates, and this will be invoiced together with the hospitalization expense.
    • If the application is being submitted by a person other than the patient or the patient’s family living in the same household, documents for confirmation of identity and a power of attorney is required.
    • For documents that require the discharge date to be displayed, please submit the application after the date of discharge has been decided.
    • Be sure to consult the doctor before submitting the application for the medical certificate for disability as consideration is required on whether the certificate can be prepared or not.

    Period of preparation
    • A period of about two to three weeks is required after discharge for preparation of the documents (please be aware that some documents cannot be prepared after discharge depending on the contents).
    • You will be notified by phone when the document is complete.
    • If you wish to receive the document by post, please notify us at the time of the application (a separate simple registered postal fee is required).
    Inquiries
    • Please contact reception No.2 the document reception for inquiries on the documents we have received from you during hospitalization.
    Discharge certificate
    • Please notify the ward staff beforehand if you require a discharge certificate at the time of discharge.

    Information on early discharge

    We provide high quality and advanced medical care as a hospital in charge of acute stage medical care. Also, we have established an emergency medical care system available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and accept as many acute stage patients as possible. In addition, we provide medical care primarily by a referral system in collaboration and with the cooperation of local medical institutions as a part of our identity as a community medical care support hospital. For these reasons, we ask patients who have reached the discharge target and have stabilized in their conditions to be discharged from the hospital at an early stage for transfer to another medical institution or recuperation at home. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation regarding this matter. Also, we have the general patient support center available as inquiry office. Please utilize this facility for consultations regarding discharge, transfer, and recuperation.

    The explanation of symptoms and other interviews at this hospital are provided from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. We ask for your understanding on this matter.

    Method of reservation

    • If you wish to use a special room, please let us know when the date of admission is announced.
    • Please be advised that the special rooms may not be available depending on room availability and conditions.
    • Since emergency admissions are accepted at this hospital, patients who require individual control are prioritized for the use of special rooms. For this reason, the beds used will be decided on the day before the day of admission. You will be contacted by phone on the day before the day of admission only if your requests cannot be met.

    Fee

    • The use fee for special/private rooms is not covered by insurance and needs to be paid in full.
    • The use fee for special/private rooms is calculated by the day in a similar manner to the hospitalization expense. ( Example:Calculated and charged as 2 days, if patient were hospitalized for 1 night and 2 days)

    In-hospital services and facilities

    Television

    • Card-operated TVs are available in the hospital room. Please purchase the TV card and earphones from the vending machine in the dayroom of the ward to use the service.
    • The remaining credit on the TV card can be refunded using the payment machine located near the elevator on the 1F.
    • BS channels are not available.

    Use of internet and computers

    • Internet connections are not available within the hospital.
    • Computers can be brought into the hospitals (computers are not available for loan)
    • Computers must be used with consideration for other patients.
    • Avoid using computers after lights off.

    Use of safety box

    • Safety box is a simple safe and should not be used to store a large amount of cash.
    • Be sure to lock the safety boxes to avoid theft, and always keep the key with you.
    • Large baggage does not fit in the safety box.

    Visiting hours

    • Please adhere to the visiting hours to allow patients to rest.
    • Visiting hours may vary for ICU, NICU, and CCU depending on the condition of the patient.

    Visiting procedure

    • For safety and privacy of patients, we ask visitor to visit patient with visitor's card ( security card)
    • Visitor reception is located at Security at the Park Entrance on 1F, or Security and Surveillance on B1F. Visitors are allowed for visits to the ward of the patient with the cards only.
      *Please return the visitor badge at the end of your visit.

    Consideration when visiting a patient

    • Please use the dayroom in each ward when visiting a patient.
    • Be sure to wash your hands before visiting to prevent infection.
    • Please refrain from visiting a patient if you have a cold or are otherwise unwell.
    • Fresh flowers or plants are not allowed into the hospital room.
    • Bringing in hazardous goods or alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.
    Visiting the pediatric ward
    • Children at the age of 15 years and younger are not allowed to enter the pediatric ward for the reason of infection control. Also, please avoid accompanying small children when visiting any inpatients in our ward buildings.
    Visiting the obstetric ward
    • In the obstetric ward, only one person is allowed to visit the patient in the labor room and delivery room as a general rule to allow urgent responses and to establish an environment where pregnant women can give birth in comfort.
    • After a patient has given birth, only her husband, parents, and children at the age of primary school or older will be allowed to visit the patient for the reason of rest for the mother and child and to prevent infections. Children below school age will be allowed to see the patient behind a window.
