Medication is prescribed externally at this hospital as a general rule.

If you are visiting a department for the first time, you will need to undergo the procedure for the first visit even if you already have a patient card.

First visit

Information for foreign nationals attending this hospital for the first time

・If you are attending this hospital for the first time or first time to a new department, you will need to obtain a referral letter from another medical institution. ( Your primary care doctor)

・If the patient's symptoms have stabilized after treatment, we will refer the patient back to the referral source or to a clinic in cooperation with our hospital.

Return visit

What is a return visit?

This is when you return to the same clinical department for treatment of an ongoing illness.

Cases considered first visits
The following cases will be considered first visits:

  • Hospital visit for illness other than those for ongoing treatment
  • Visiting a different department than the one you are currently seeing.
  • Visiting this hospital again after being referred from this hospital to another insurance medical care institution (treating doctor)
  • Attending the hospital after making no appointments or consistent outpatient visits for a specified period (about 3 to 6 months or about one month for Department of Pediatrics)

If a reservation is made for a return visit

Please complete reception by inserting the patient  card into the return visit reception machine near the main entrance by the time of the appointment. Bring the consultation guide sheet ( green color)  obtained from the machine to the outpatient reception counter and wait until your number is called.

Appointment need to be made beforehand to visit the following departments. Patient without an appointment cannot be seen on the same day ( cannot use the return visit reception machine ) except for patient who are medically deemed to be in need of urgent care.

The doctors in the emergency department are available at all times to provide emergency medical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The emergency department may be very busy at certain times of the day. Please contact us before attending.

For first visits

As a general rule, patients with a referral from a treating doctor or patients transported in an ambulance are accepted.

In the emergency outpatient department, primary healthcare will be provided by a doctor in the emergency department. Care will be provided in cooperation with the doctors from various departments if specialist care or hospitalization is required; however, please be advised that you will not necessarily be treated by a specialist doctor from the initial stage of care.

Payment of medical expense

You will generally be required to pay on the day of the consultation. However, in cases such as when a long period of time is required to determine the amount, you will be invoiced with an estimate (deposit).

Order of attendance in the emergency outpatient department

Patients with severe conditions will be seen first. You may need to wait for a long period of time depending on the symptoms.

After consultation at the emergency outpatient department

The doctor in the emergency department may ask you to attend the other departments at the hospital or go to your treating doctor, depending on your symptoms. Also, be sure to attend the hospital immediately, even if you are not asked to do so, if you have symptoms of feeling unwell or any abnormality.

Maternity fitness

Maternity yoga
Effect
  1. Ⅰ. Maternity yoga helps stabilize the mind, body, and breathing during pregnancy.
  2. Ⅱ. You will be breathing mainly through the nose while performing poses of stretching, twisting, and bending backwards as you breathe. The method of breathing and relaxation covered in the maternity yoga is also usefol for childbirth.
  3. Ⅲ. It helps you socialize and exchange information between pregnant   women.
Eligibility Those at 16 weeks of pregnancy onward who have been given permission from the doctor.
You will not be able to attend maternity yoga if you have pregnancy-induced hypertension, malposition of placenta, or if you are at risk of a threatened miscarriage.
Maternity aerobics
Effect
  1. Ⅰ. Aerobic exercises increase systemic endurance and help with safe      delivery.
  2. Ⅱ. It helps resolve lower back pain, back pain, stiff shoulders, swelling, and the constipation that can occur commonly during pregnancy.
  3. Ⅲ. It helps burn fat and may prevent excessive weight gain.
  4. Ⅳ. Pleasant exercise and sweating help relieve stress.
  5. Ⅴ. It helps you socialize and exchange information with other pregnant   women.
Eligibility Those at 20 weeks of pregnancy onward who have been given permission from the doctor.
You will not be able to attend maternity yoga if you are pregnant with twins, have pregnancy-induced hypertension, malposition of placenta, if you are at risk of threatened miscarriage, or are at 34 weeks of pregnancy or later with risk of breech delivery.

Method of participation If you wish to attend the maternity fitness sessions, please report this to your doctor at the time of the pregnancy checkup. The doctor will observe the results of the checkup, and if you are considered eligible for participation, a signature will be written on the Maternal and Child Health Handbook. Please be sure to obtain the signature from the doctor as this is a requirement for participation. After you have obtained permission, please go to outpatient reception of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics to make a reservation.

Baby massage & mummy fitness

Effect
  1. Ⅰ. Baby massage encourages the natural motor development in the babies themselves.
  2. Ⅱ. Baby massage is effective on the intellectual and emotional development of the babies.
  3. Ⅲ. Mummy fitness helps with the recovery of physical strengths after birth, improvement of body figure, functional recovery, and promotes milk secretion
Eligibility Those with no problems in the mother or child at the health checkup after birth and at 1 month after birth, until 7 months after birth
  • Those with fever or are suspected of having infections of chickenpox, rubella, or measles or those with children who are unwell will not be able to attend baby massage & mummy fitness.
  • These sessions are available for those who have not given birth at this hospital. However, a patient registration card at this hospital will be required when making payment. If you do not have a patient registration card at this hospital please go to the Reception No. 1 general information to make a patient registration card before attending the session. Please attend the reception by 30 minutes before the session as the time will be required to prepare the card.

Outpatient department for second opinions

A second opinion refers to an objective opinion provided by a doctor other than the treating doctor at the medical institution, which concerns the diagnosis and explanation given by the treating doctor, as well as the treatment policies. This hospital provides an outpatient department for second opinions for patients who are receiving treatment at another medical institution.

The outpatient department for second opinions is in charge of the following:

  • The specialist doctor at this hospital will provide opinions and determinations on the details and method of your current treatment at another medical institution for use as reference.
  • No new examinations or treatments will be provided as a part of the second opinion.
  • We will not accept complaints or protests about the medical institution where you are currently receiving treatment, consultations for the purpose of medical litigation, or consultations on medical expenses.
  • You will need to bring a patient referral document (letter of referral) from your treating doctor to the consultation.
  • We may refuse your request for a second opinion as a result of consideration of the consultation details.

Precautions for consultation

  • You will be asked for an overview of the consultation when calling for a reservation. You will also be provided information on the documents that you will need to prepare.
  • We will contact you at a later date regarding the eligibility, date, and time of consultation after making arrangements with the specialist doctor in charge.
  • A medical examination may be required depending on the department being consulted. Please check with the department beforehand.
  • Time will be required for the diagnosis of images other than X-ray films. Please bring the film to the hospital at least one week before the day of consultation.

Reservation center for referred patients

In order to shorten the waiting time for patients with a letter of referral, we have established a reservation center for referred patients that provides a prior phone or online reservation service for patients with a referral.

We have preset slots for first visit appointments for patients with a letter of referral. When you call the reservation center for referred patients, we are able to reserve an appointment for the applicable department instantly. The patient card and medical records will be prepared prior to the visit, which allows smooth consultation with minimal waiting time on the day of your scheduled visit.

  • Please have your referral letter (letter of referral) from another medical institution at hand when you make a reservation.
  • Since medical records and other documents will be prepared at the time of the reservation, you will be asked for your name, phone number, gender, date of birth, department for reservation, history of consultation at this hospital, and patient number (if you have previously visited this hospital).
  • Please be advised that the reservation slots may be full and the date and time convenient for you may not be available.
  • Please be advised that reservations cannot be made on the day of the appointment.
